Strategy 4 — Good Soil & Sowing Strategy

Build Sacred Space to Hear & Obey

"The Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him." — Habakkuk 2:20 · NKJV

Imagine being interrupted mid-sentence — repeatedly — by someone who isn't really listening. Now imagine the opposite: someone who asks you a question, then waits, then listens, then asks one more. You know the difference in your body. The first leaves you feeling invisible. The second leaves you feeling seen.

The same difference exists in how we give God's Word to others. Strategy 4 is the practice of building a room where God can speak and be heard. That room has four elements.

Silence Builds the Walls

Before God spoke creation into existence, the Spirit hovered in silence. The Temple in Jerusalem was built without the sound of a hammer — stone cut and shaped before it arrived, so that the sacred space itself was never broken by noise. Elijah did not hear God in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire — but in a still small voice that came only after all the noise had passed.

There are many voices, and the Word can easily be lost in the noise. Silence is not emptiness — it is the wall that protects God's Word from being drowned out. Silence is the space that God's voice can fill. What cannot be heard cannot be obeyed.

Listening Builds the Floor

Jesus' first recorded act of personal initiative was sitting in the temple, listening to the teachers before He asked a single question. Listening is not silence — it is active, sustained reception. It gives the other person, and the Word, a place to stand. When we are not truly listening — when we are rehearsing our response — the Word falls and is lost.

Questions Build the Doors

"What do you seek?" — John 1:38 · NKJV

Jesus' first recorded words in the Gospel of John were not a teaching or a declaration. They were a question. He then invited two strangers to come and see where He was staying. They came, remained with Him that day, and one of them recognized the Messiah. A question is a doorway — the asker steps back, and the answerer steps through.

Obedience Is the Foundation

A beautiful room without a foundation is just decoration. Obedience is what holds the entire sacred space up. Jesus said the one who hears His words and does them is like a house built on rock — no flood can shake it. Every storytelling session in this training is built toward one moment: when the hearer says, even quietly in their own heart, "Yes, Lord." That moment belongs to the Spirit — which is why the fifth strategy is Trust.

What You Will Discover

Strategy 4 teaches you to build a room for the hearing of God's Word from four elements: silence as walls, listening as floor, questions as doors, and obedience as foundation. In this training, you will discover why each element is essential — what breaks down without it, and what becomes possible when all four are present. The hardest discovery is also the most important: you cannot build this room for others if it does not first exist inside you. The sacred space in a storytelling session is an overflow of the sacred space in the storyteller. You will practice building both — starting in our STRATEGIES 1 Training.

The walls silent. The floor attentive. The doors asking. The foundation holding. "Yes, Lord."
